This is a belated entry.  We topped out at #5 in the UK top 40 unsigned songs chart but we held on to #7 two weeks running.  Good job, pig.

Here's a link to the podcast of RechargedRadio's I Land music program hosted by Rodrigo de Sa.  Listen to the June 16th episode.  Lots of great songs there including one by some band named The Obligations.  Then come back and listen to other episodes and other programs.  Justin Wayne's a nice guy.  Listen to his programs too.

Rodrigo de Sa hosts a weekly program on RechargedRadio and will be playing our song Get Bent (and Die) tonight.  The program is called I Land and runs Wednesdays at 10:00PM GMT (6:00PM Eastern).  Come listen tonight and jump into the chat room.  If life intrudes you can download the program and listen later.  Much thanks to Rodrigo.  Don't forget to check out Rodrigo's podcast Cowboy Cantor.  This guy really knows what the kids are listening to.

Spoon, for Now

• June 2nd, 2010

Posted by James

I posted on Facebook that I like Spoon. And I'll post it here. I don't have a hell of a lot of time to do these things, but here goes:

I find something Beatlesque in Spoon. I've told a few people this, and get furrowed brows. Spoon is a minimalist band. Right. Their sound is "cold", I've heard some say, or at least "a bit chilly". Yeah, but there's something so fresh there; maybe they're a bit chilly, but, for me, there's an openness and eagerness there, what I think of as a "Christmas Morning" sound, like they all just discovered pop under the tree. Can't put my finger on it. Maybe they're one of those bands that aren't doing much new, but making it sound new. They sound both pure AND hip at the same time. Not easy to pull off. Anyway, there's my recommendation. Wish I could do more.    Oh, did I mention White Rabbits? (kinda similar to Spoon, but more rhythmically inclined)
